Ronald J. Friedman, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Medical Diagnostic Associates, a Medical Corporation (MDIA), participated at the Government Health Information Technology (GHIT) Conference and Exhibition in Washington, D.C., June 4-5, 2009. Dr. Friedman consulted with aides to key Congressmen involved in the healthcare reform debate receiving a warm reception for the work MDIA has done with its development of ElectRIS, an Electronic Diagnostic Record (EDR) which is a critical component of the Electronic/Computerized Medical Record (EMR), together offering a comprehensive Electronic Health Record (EHR). The Congressional aides were impressed by MDIA’s meaningful use of ElectRIS over the past six years.

“The EMR assures improved quality of patient care with substantial cost savings,” Friedman states, then emphasizes that “efficiency is essential.” One call to MDIA, the preeminent national provider of network diagnostic imaging and electrodiagnostic services, assures appropriate patient screening and selection of examination equipment, along with central web-based archiving of the patient’s entire examination and report, regardless of where the examination is performed. Central storage assures not only portability for the patient, but ease of future access for study comparison, second opinions, conferencing, and other medical needs.

Gail M. Schlesinger, M.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MDIA, further notes, “The cost of repeating lost diagnostic imaging examinations may account for as much as 20 percent of the overall diagnostic imaging expenditures.”

Medical Diagnostic Associates, a Medical Corporation (MDIA) is the preeminent national diagnostic imaging and electrodiagnostic services network. Physician-owned and operated, MDIA offers insurance carriers, third party administrators, self-insured employer groups and unions central web-based archiving or electrodiagnostic examinations and reports for future reference, comparison and conferencing. ElectRIS is the Electronic Diagnostic Record (EDR), a companion to the Electronic/Computerized Medical Record (EMR) to facilitate a truly complete and portable patient Electronic Health Record (EHR).
